Paisley to get new electric vehicle charging hub

A new charging hub for electric vehicles is set to be created at a site in Paisley, after the local council decided to give its approval to the Plans.

The company that applied to Renfrewshire Council for planning permission is Allego, and its application states that the hub will be of a high quality. The site that it has chosen to build on is currently lying empty, but was formerly home to a pub called the Traveller’s Rest. It is located on Wallneuk Road in Paisley and has been described by the applicant as ‘derelict’.

Allego intends to create a charging hub that contains six units and that is able to power 12 vehicles. The application also includes Plans for a substation and three canopies overhead. There will be landscaping and resurfacing works carried out at the site too.

Poster printing by shops in Paisley is one of the options available when it comes to drawing attention to new public facilities of this kind.

According to the Daily Record, the chief planning officer for the council wrote that:
“The charging hub would be located on a brownfield site that detracts from the wider appearance of the area. The charging hub would therefore help improve the look of the site, which in turn would improve the overall appearance of the area.”

This argument won the day at the meeting.
