An ambitious live stage project is set to take place in Paisley, with three different organisations collaborating as the town prepares for life after the COVID-19 pandemic.
This wide-ranging arts project is being put together by Renfrewshire Leisure, the Slung Low theatre company and the National Theatre of Scotland. The aim is to create a programme of events that will excite the people of Paisley and will explore its history of political and social activism.
The heart of the project and its finale will be a show called ‘Victorious’, which is being written by playwright Julia Taudevin and brought to life by the actors from Slung Low and the National Theatre of Scotland – with local people also set to make an appearance. This production is set to be staged in various outdoor locations throughout the town.
Victorious is set to be a spectacular multimedia event, with the audiences wearing headphones to help create an immersive dramatic experience. The action in the play will take place 20 years from now and will see 250 members of community drama groups appear on stage alongside the 12 professional actors.
Those organising live shows like this often prepare by turning to shops that offer poster printing, so they can advertise to the local community.
The project kicks off in April of this year, concluding with the Victorious show in September 2022.
