Powerleague Paisley applied to Renfrewshire Council for permission to construct three padel courts. The facility is already home to four courts dedicated to the sport, but claimed that these were insufficient to cope with public enthusiasm. Padel is a sport that is growing rapidly in popularity across the country, with this being the latest example of that.
The additional courts are set to be constructed on land that is currently occupied by a seven-a-side football pitch. As part of the changes, a new pitch for seven-a-side games will be created at the north-west edge of the centre. The three new padel courts will be enclosed and will feature floodlighting.

According to the Daily Record, the application stated:
“Provision of additional padel courts will meet local demand within the community and contribute to health and wellbeing across Renfrewshire.”
North Planning and Development submitted the application on behalf of the Powerleague Paisley owners. Planning approval was granted, but a start date for the construction of the courts has not been announced yet.
