This report was commissioned via the regeneration project called The Making of Ferguslie, which aims to breathe new life into the Ferguslie Park area of Paisley. Renfrewshire Council put it together with plenty of input from people living in the area, who were invited to suggest ideas for making the best use of the land at Ferguslie Park.
Among the proposals from local people that were included within the report are for disused parts of the district to be turned into commercial units for new businesses, and for them to be used for vegetable and fruit growing, alongside new trees and plants.
Other suggestions in the report are repurposing the gasometer as a venue for sports, developing a new BMX bike track and building a community arts centre. Venues like arts centres often need brochure printing so they can detail upcoming exhibitions.
According to the Daily Record, John McIntyre from Ferguslie Community Trust said that everyone was pleased to be making progress, adding:
“The community’s ideas are beginning to come to the fore and there is a really exciting time ahead for Ferguslie.”
He went on to say that he was particularly excited that the newly formed community trust will play a significant role.
