Refurbishment planned for landmark in Paisley

A landmark building in Paisley will be given a multi-million-pound refurbishment as part of wider Plans for revamping many older buildings in the centre of the town.

The Liberal Club will be given a makeover that is intended to restore the venue while retaining its celebrated architecture. The floors at the top are to be converted into flats, as planning permission for this has been granted. Various potential uses for the lower floors are currently being discussed.

Work on the building will take place as part of a programme that is set to cost a total of £4.1 million to complete. The Liberal Club holds C-listed status but has not been in use for the past seven years and is currently in a poor state of repair.

Brochure printing from shops in Paisley can be used by local housing developers when they want to show off new flats, such as the ones planned for this building, to those who might buy or rent them.

The club is owned by SC Investments Scotland. Jazz Chowdhary from the company told the Glasgow Times that:

“We are both extremely excited to restore this landmark listed building on Paisley’s High Street to its former glory and we look forward to bringing it back into use for the local community.”

A date for work to begin has yet to be announced.
