‘Greatest Loser’ is not a title that many people would want, but for three women from Paisley, it is the prize of their weight loss dreams.
Kerith Verlaque Easdon, Tracey McCaffery and Stacey Hemphill are all regulars at the group Slimming World, which is held at the Wallneuk North Church, and they were named its Greatest Losers after they managed to drop a remarkable 20 stone in weight between them. The trio exceeded the targets they had set for themselves.
This group is run by Sarah McElroy and the Greatest Loser contest is something she puts together every year, with the award going to the member who sheds the most. 50-year-old Tracey picked up the first prize for this year, after she lost nearly six stone in a year.
Stacey, aged 27, was looking to lose weight ahead of her wedding and is now a size 16 instead of 24, while Kerith won the 7:30pm group title after losing six stone. Groups like this often provide promotional Pens and similar items to spread the word.
Speaking to the Daily Record, McElroy said:
“The announcement of our winner is a real celebration of all that they – and all of the other members – have achieved by losing weight and making healthy changes to their lives.”
