Paisley to get new grammar school

A brand new grammar school appears set to be constructed at a site within Paisley, after Renfrewshire Council made the decision to give the go ahead to the Plans at a recent meeting.

This school will have cutting edge educational facilities and will be called Paisley Grammar School. The site that has been selected for it is on Renfrew Road, alongside a building that was formerly owned by Chivas. Among the amenities that will be provided for pupils of the new school are a theatre with seating for 300 people, outside areas for both socialising and learning and pitches for sports use.

Construction of the school is projected to cost around £75 million. It is intended as a replacement for the one on Glasgow Road and it will be for pupils of secondary school age.

Paisley Stationery printers can be of significant use to schools in the town when they need to be supplied with everything from Forms for administrative purposes to teaching materials.

Plans for the school were given the nod at a meeting of the council’s policy board. However, Kenny MacLaren from the local authority indicated that they would need to be sure that there were safe routes for pupils to use for walking to and from the school during busy traffic periods.

A date for the building to begin is still to be announced.
