In addition to his role as the leader of Paisley JNI Scouts, Frank Donnelly works as a chef in a local hospital, but now he is swapping cooking for building to carry out a charitable project in a foreign country. The Malaysian village that he and the scouts – who vary in age from 15 to 25 – have gone to is situated within the rainforest of Bellum and it is an arduous trek to get there.
The journey sees them head to Dubai, and then on to Kuala Lumpur. The final part of the trip involves them travelling to the village by road. While they are there, they will help out in any way possible to improve the lives of those in the area. Organisations like this often use flyer printing to promote any fundraising events.
Donnelly told the Daily Record before their departure:
“There will be 46 of us in total, and we’ve been arranging this for the past four years. We will be refurbishing an education area and we’ll be building a playground, and clearing land for planting.”
They set off on the 14th July and will stay in Malaysia until the 28th.
