Tommy McGrory and his team of creative talents want to make a musical film about the events in Paisley history that are celebrated each year with the Sma’ Shot Day. These go all the way back to 1856 and a strike among workers living in the town, led by a weaver called Robert Campbell, over pay and conditions.
The phrase ‘Sma’ Shot’ refers to the thread he was having to use to finish additional weaving tasks that he and his fellow workers were not being paid for. This is marked each year with the local Sma’ Shot Day, but many people do not know the origins of it.
According to the Daily Record, Campbell stated that:
“There has never been a film, book or documentary made entirely about Sma’ Shot and there has never been a film all about Paisley shot entirely in Paisley.”

This particular fundraiser is aiming to bring in £25,000, with the plan being for the entire film to be shot at historic Paisley sites like Tannahill’s Cottage and Sma’ Shot Cottages.
