A listed building in Paisley that has been allowed to fall into a state of disrepair is set to be restored to former glories, with the confirmation that Plans to redevelop it have been approved by the council.
The building that used to house the Royal Alexandra Infirmary holds Grade B listed status. It is situated between Neilston and Calside Roads and the red sandstone structure is noted for the high quality of its architecture. However, the interior was badly damaged two years ago by fire and it has since been the centre of anti-social behaviour.
Now salvation appears to be at hand for what is one of the more historic structures in the town though. The council has agreed to plans for it to be converted into a number of flats. The redevelopment would provide a total of 81, which would be a mix of two and one-bedroom flats.
