Line-up confirmed for Paisley literature festival

The organisers of a Paisley literary festival have confirmed a star-studded line-up of performers for this year’s event, despite it having to be held as a virtual forum due to the ongoing pandemic.

The Paisley Book Festival for 2021 will feature last year’s winner of the top literature award the Booker Prize, Douglas Stuart, as its headline guest. However, Stuart is just one of the exciting names that the organisers have managed to secure for the event, with the singer-songwriter Karine Polwart, celebrated crime novelists Dr Marisa Haeztman and Chris Brookmyre and stand-up comic Janey Godley also set to appear.

The theme that will unite all of the performances at the 2021 festival will be Radical New Futures, which has been inspired by the pandemic and the response of the public to it.

Other famous names that are scheduled to perform at this year’s festival include the acclaimed Scots novelists Graeme Armstrong and Andrew O’Hagan. Speaking to The National, Victoria Hollows from Renfrewshire Leisure said:

“While we may not be able to gather physically, our innovative production team is doing great work to create an interesting and interactive virtual festival experience.”
