Jae-Leigh Montgomery, aged eight, chose to undertake her fundraising efforts on behalf of the Little Princess Trust – and was able to hand them a cheque worth £2,803. Jae-Leigh attends West Primary School in Paisley and she had her long hair cut by 16 inches to raise cash for this charity that supports children with cancer.
With the help of her family, she also put together a fun day that featured activities such as football cards, tombola stalls and a raffle, to help bring in donations. St Peter’s Club served as the venue for this event.
They also created a page on the internet for people to use for making donations and the results vastly exceeded all of their expectations. Speaking to a reporter from the Daily Record, the youngster’s step-grandfather Neil stated:
“We never thought we would even come close to raising so much. Initially we thought our target would be a few hundred pounds, so to raise nearly £3,000 is amazing.”
