The band are one of 20 groups that have been listed for a top award, the winner of which is set to be announced during September, and the art rockers will be coming to Paisley for the ceremony. The award is the Scottish Album of the Year, viewed as the country’s equivalent to the national Mercury Music Prize.
The group has been long listed for its latest album, which is called Always Ascending, and it will be up against stiff competition for the prize. Other top Scottish acts that are in the running include Mogwai, The Embers and Neon Waltz.
Paisley Town Hall will serve as the venue for the ceremony, which takes place on 6th September, and the artist that wins will receive £20,000. Speaking to the Paisley Gazette, Robert Kilpatrick from the Scottish Music Industry Association said:
“This year’s long-list celebrates another 20 incredibly strong, diverse and important contemporary Scottish records. On behalf of the Scottish Music Industry Association, I’d like to congratulate all of this year’s long-listed artists on fantastic album releases.”
