This register will be voluntary and will see the council define minimum standards required for the sector. The idea is that pet owners can choose a dog walker signed up to it and feel certain that their dog is being looked after by a reliable person. It is estimated that Paisley and the rest of the borough is home to over 40 people who work as professional dog walkers.
People running small businesses of this kind often use places offering printed Business Cards to help spread the word about their work.
The register was proposed this month at a meeting of the Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board in Paisley, where Jennifer Adam-McGregor from the council stated that she thought it would be a good move. According to the Daily Record, Adam-McGregor stated:
“Constituents have regularly raised concerns about the increase in dog walking companies. It will reassure them and the public at large that companies are signing up to be registered.”
It would be operated in a way that has similarities with the responsible dog owners pledge. The amount it would cost to register and a launch date have not yet been decided.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
