A fundraising campaign due to last for 100 days has been set up in Paisley, with the aim of securing the money needed to prevent a local building from having to close.
Thomas Coats Memorial Church is at risk because of a drop in the numbers attending and the large sums needed to run it. Now community and business leaders have got together to raise the £1.5 million needed to keep it going.
The man who came up with the idea is Ian Henderson, a local businessman, and the campaign – which is called ‘100 Days to Save Coats Memorial’ – is asking for donations from the general public and private organisations. It is hoped that the church can be refurbished and used as a venue to host events.
Andrew Crummy, a tapestry artist, is creating a piece depicting famous people born in Paisley that will hang in the church for the duration of the campaign. Fundraisers often use Graphic Design Services for their campaign Posters.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Henderson said:
“I think that it’s a lot of money in some senses but on the other hand it’s not a huge sum to convert a building of this stature. We believe it’s achievable in 100 days.”
The ambitious Plans include building a ticket office, landscaping the gardens, car parking space, theatre seating and a stage.
