Variety show to go on stage in Ayr

Twice Nightly, written and performed by Dominic Goodwin, is due to receive performances in Ayr at the beginning of July.

This one man show constitutes a celebration of the heyday of variety, with Goodwin taking on the role of comedian Freddie Francis, a support comic who has been on the national comedy circuit for the past 30 years, appearing on nearly every variety bill. Francis has now arrived in 1956 and begins discussing his career, which includes the downs as well as the ups.

Francis recalls entertaining soldiers during wartime, performing at the notorious Glasgow Empire, and the audience will also learn about what followed when a novelty act mislaid her snake. Everything from the riotous to the downright absurd is wittingly recounted for the audience’s benefit.

Twice Nightly includes routines from a host of famous comedians, notably Rob Wilton, Max Miller and Jimmy James, as well as popular songs from that time period, such as The Man Who Broke The Bank At Monte Carlo and Happy Days Are Here Again. The show is directed by Thomas Frere.

Tickets cost £12.00. Promotional Products can be an effective way of advertising a future comedy show or theatrical event like this one.

Twice Nightly runs over two days, starting at 7.00 pm on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July at The Gaiety Theatre in Ayr.
