Viennese musical to start New Year in Ayr

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, with guest artists and sponsored by 'The Scotsman' is due to hold a 'Viennese New Year' concert in Ayr at the beginning of January.

This is a traditional musical celebration that forms part of the Ayr Concert Season 2025-2026. It features the SCO's Principal Guest Conductor, broadcaster and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, Andrew Manze.

Also scheduled to appear is the internationally recognised Glasgow born soprano, Rachel Redmond who studied at the Guildhall School of Music. Her career so far has included performing Mozart 'Mass in C minor' with the Royal Northern Sinfonia and 'Graun Der Tod Jesu' with Nederlandse Bachvereniging.

The programme itself will consist of a selection of classical works that should delight the audience. This includes Viennese polkas, waltzes, and much more from the Strauss collection, notably 'Die Fledermaus Overture', not to mention 'The Blue Danube'.

For over five decades now the Scottish Chamber Orchestra has been endeavouring to inspire and bring together communities to present a programme that is both appealing and open to all.

Tickets range in price from £3.00 to £30.00. Print shops can assist in the promotion of a concert or musical event.

'Viennese New Year – with The Scottish Chamber Orchestra' has a starting time of 7.30 pm on Monday 5th January at Ayr Town Hall.
