Bandstand in Ayr to undergo transformation
The bandstand at the shorefront in Ayr is all set to undergo a transformation, following the news that South Ayrshire Council has decided to approve plans for it.
The company that submitted the proposals to the council is Denham Youd, a firm of architects based in Ayr. The application was aiming to get the green light for a major overhaul of the bandstand. Among the intended changes are landscaping of the area around it and the construction of wing walls and a canopy. These will provide the bandstand with more shelter from the wind and rain.
Denham Youd is also planning to add further seats to the bandstand. The idea is that the refurbished facility will have the feel and look of an auditorium. South Ayrshire Council is hoping that it can become a venue for live concerts when the work is completed.
Existing live performance venues in Ayr sometimes make use of banner printing from local shops when they need sizeable and eye-catching promotional materials for upcoming shows.
According to a local source, the council issued a statement saying that:
It added that pedestrians would be prioritised. A start date for the work has not been announced yet.
