Martin Turner and his band, as part of the Wishbone Gold tour, are due to play a gig in Swindon in mid-December. Turner is best known for being a founding member of the 1970s group Wishbone Ash.
Turner and fellow West Country resident Steve Upton relocated to London in 1969 to start the band. They were joined by Ted Turner and Andy Powell, who replied to a Melody Maker advert. Wishbone Ash was associated with guitar-orientated melodic rock and, over five decades, sold millions of concert tickets and albums while influencing many other artists.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of their foundation, Turner and his band will be giving a full rendition of 'Pilgrimage’, their 1971 album. It contains favourite tracks like 'The Pilgrim', 'Jail Bait', 'Valediction' and 'Vas Dis'.
As lead singer and songwriter, Turner was essential to their success and is still touring and performing. A Wishbone Ash 30-disc CD boxed-set retrospective called 'The Vintage Years 1970-1991' has been re-issued. Turner, in 2016, produced a 2CD/DVD combo 'The Beauty of Chaos – Live at the Citadel'.
Tickets cost £16.50 and handling/delivery fees may apply. Banner printing can be a useful resource when promoting a forthcoming concert or musical event.
The gig has a starting time of 8:00 pm on Friday, December 17 and will take place at Level 3, Swindon.
