A community centre in Swindon will be undergoing major refurbishment work, with the news that grant funding for it has been provided.

Moredon Community Centre will be given a total makeover that is designed to bring it up to date. The cost of this work is expected to be £118,500, and £80,144 of that has been by provided by the Sport England Place Capital Funding Scheme. The remainder of the money needed will come from Central Swindon North Parish Council, which runs the centre.

Among the improvements that are set to be made to the centre are the installation of new heating, lights and floor surfaces. The entire centre will be redecorated too, while its various facilities will be brought up to modern standards. This centre hosts everything from social events to fitness and sports groups.

Local community centres often make use of Swindon shops that handle flyer printing. This can be useful for promoting the various classes and activities they offer.

According to the Swindon Advertiser, the Parish Council revealed news of the funding on its social media channels. It stated:
“This huge funding, alongside the Parish Council’s contribution towards the £118,500 project, will support a wide range of overdue improvement works; transforming the centre into a modern, accessible and flexible community space for local residents of all ages.”

No start date for the work has been announced yet.
