Swindon amphitheatre to be used as outdoor cinema

An amphitheatre in Swindon is set to be transformed into a temporary al fresco cinema next month for a screening of two classic movies.

The Town Gardens Bowl will be the venue for these events, which will take place on successive days. The first will see a screening of the celebrated 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, which stars Judy Garland as the girl who flies over the rainbow to Oz. On the following day, the Walt Disney movie Fantasia will be shown. This is a legendary mix of cartoon and classical music that features Mickey Mouse.

These outdoor screenings are the brainchild of South Swindon Parish Council. The organisation is putting the whole event together and it will make for a unique family experience.

In addition to the two films, local families will be able to enjoy the scenic Town Gardens setting.
