Ghoulish new festival to come to Swindon

A ghoulish new festival is set to take place in Swindon before the end of the year, which takes its inspiration from the ancient traditions of Mexico.

This festival will be called Day of the Dead and it is based on the Mexican event that is known as Dia de los Muertos. It is being brought to Swindon by the Old Town Business Association and will offer local people a mix of authentic Mexican cuisine, live music, art displays and activities for all the family. The hope is that it can become an annual feature of life in the town.

Day of the Dead will be open to everyone and is set to be mainly located in Wood Street. An Old Town Business Association spokesperson stated that the atmosphere would be exciting and welcoming, while also respecting its Mexican cultural roots.

Those who decide to go along will have the opportunity to dress up in suitably deathly attire for the occasion. Colourful costumes mixed with skeleton and zombie face paint are being encouraged.
