Romfords cricket club inspires young girls

The Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club is developing young female players, with a special coaching programme being rolled out.

Dynamos Cricket is targeted at the 8 to 11 age group. Online registration has already been enabled. Poster printing is often useful for ambitious organisations, especially when seasonal events that takes place in colourful outdoor surroundings are on the cards.

Beginners are going to be made welcome by the club. Initial coaching sessions will last for an hour. The coaching will take place in an early evening slot, with the first session beginning at 5:45 pm.

Mark Hope, the head for junior cricket, told the Romford Recorder:

“It is Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club’s ambition to grow youth cricket and this is the first time we have run a programme exclusively for girls.”

Hope explained that Dynamos Cricket should be an ideal cricket experience for novices. A bonus for players is that they will have personalised New Balance shirts in which to take part.

An eight-week training schedule will get the girls to grips with the sport, but is going to concentrate primarily on having fun. The young players will pick up a wide variety of skills as they accumulate confidence. The techniques they learn will stand them in good stead when the time comes for an actual game of cricket.
