Romford to host musical celebration

'One Night Of Ska', presented by Yesterday's Men, will take place in Romford towards the end of November.

Ska is a musical genre with its roots back in 1960s Jamaica. This formative scene has been combined with the English two-tone revival of the late 1970s to produce a stage event with widespread appeal. It is a two-hour celebration of the sound, groups, and singers that have influenced population culture and inspired generations through the genre.

The playlist features music closely identified with artists like Madness, Prince Buster, The Specials, Desmond Dekker, The Selecter and The Maytals. These include many familiar tracks like 'One Step Beyond', 'My Girl', 'Ghost Town', 'Red Red Wine', 'Enjoy Yourself', and 'Too Much Too Young', many of which are still often heard on the radio and television today.

Yesterday’s Men are fronted by Gerry Slattery, who is a guitarist and vocalist. Stephen Trigg of Bad Manners fame is on trumpet, Kim Cypher delivers sax plus vocals, and Peter Gill plays keyboards as well as vocals.

Tickets cost £19 and there is an age restriction of eight years and above. Stationery printers can be a useful resource when it comes to organising a forthcoming stage show or musical event.

'One Night Of Ska' has a starting time of 8:00 pm on Friday, November 26 at The Brookside Theatre, Romford.
