A building in Romford that used to be home to a nightclub could be brought back into temporary use as an arts space, if the council approves the Plans.
This application is seeking permission to change the use of the building to a space for both storage and rehearsal purposes. It is a revision to an earlier plan submitted by the same applicant that would have seen it deployed as a theatre. That idea secured the approval of the local council, but the revised application will have to be reconsidered. Both versions were submitted on behalf of an arts charity that has its base in Romford.
The building at the centre of the plans is on South Street and used to be occupied by a nightclub called Atik. This shut its doors two years ago and a proposal has been submitted to knock the building down and construct housing on the site. Therefore, even if the plans by the arts charity are approved, it would be a strictly temporary arrangement.
