What's Happening in Romford, Essex, England…

Romford BID supports light exhibition

Romford’s Business Improvement District is backing a light show.

Set to be held in the Mercury retail centre, the event, which will occur in the early weeks of 2021, is being hosted by Havering Changing and Romford’s Business Improvement District. Poster printing can add plenty of colour to events, especially when they are taking place on a grand scale.

Around 1,000 people took in the show at the beginning of this year, which involved six works of art. The hope is that this time the exhibition will be three times bigger. Romford town centre is due to stage a trail for families to kick things off.

Natalie Bays, an executive for the Mercury shopping centre, told the Romford Recorder:

“A light festival is a great opportunity to celebrate during the dark months of January and February and we would love to see as many local people and businesses to get involved as possible.”

Bays believes in the strength of the community spirit of the area. Winter Garden is the theme of the celebration this time around. Artists have been encouraged to come forward. Three of the envisaged artworks have been planned already.

James Jackson is the director at Havering Changing. He is keen to cooperate with residents and business owners, as he wants the entire community to get behind the project.
