Pocket parks on the cards for Romford

A proposal for ‘pocket parks’ in Romford is being discussed.

Romford’s Business Improvement District (BID) wants to add greenery to the centre of Romford, and a pair of pocket parks could be created as a consequence of its plan. Smaller green interventions are also on the cards.

The BID has been working on the green scheme with the community-based organisation Things Made Public. About £40,000 has been spent on the plan, and more money is set to be raised via crowdfunding. The hope is that approximately £87,000 can be raised by the middle of May.

Julie Frost, the Director of Romford’s BID, told the Romford Recorder that:

“Romford BID is really excited to get behind this project to enhance our historic market place and town. With the publication of the roadmap out of lockdown, our focus must be on doing what we can to encourage shoppers, diners and socialisers back.”

Frost pointed out that the pocket parks could make Romford’s town centre more appealing. She explained that the green solution was just one of the policies that could boost the area in question. Stationery printers can be useful in the regeneration sector, particularly when a potential initiative is being promoted.

More funding for the pocket parks is being pursued via Make London, a mayoral campaign that intends to assist London communities that have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
