What's Happening in Romford, Essex, England…

Further consultation on Romford regeneration scheme

Plans to regenerate part of central Romford are to be consulted on again.

The initiative aims to transform Romford’s Bridge Close Industrial Estate. Situated in the town centre, the site could accommodate housing and other amenities. Havering Council has joined up with Savills Investment Management and First Base to create a fresh vision. Graphic design can be a useful tool when planning developments such as this.

The leader at Havering Council, Damian White, told the Romford Recorder:

“Havering residents are at the heart of everything we do so it's always good to hear directly from local people and businesses.”

Councillor White suggested that the proposals would boost the entire community via the rejuvenation of the River Rom. He encouraged citizens to take an active interest in the project. The hope is that a new primary school and a modern health facility can be constructed in the neighbourhood.

A spokesperson for the regeneration firm First Base thanked the public for their contribution to previous consultations. He explained that feedback from the upcoming events would have an influence on the future development of policy. In addition, he indicated that the planning process was not going to be rushed.

Two venues have been selected for the exhibitions under discussion. The Brewery will do the job on May 11th and the Havering Islamic Cultural Centre will host it on May 14th.
