What's Happening in Romford, Essex, England…

A safety team will be deployed in Romford

The streets of Romford are going to be patrolled by a safety team.

Romford Business Improvement District has combined forces with Havering Council to launch the new initiative. As a result, Romford’s town centre will benefit from the assistance of a safety team. Implementation of the scheme shall take place on Friday and Saturday evenings. Flyer printing is useful to promote changes like this because it can contribute to cost-effective communication.

Julie Frost is a director for Romford’s Business Improvement District. Frost explained that the street triage unit would boost the security of the area, potentially making it easier to attract visitors. She told the Romford Recorder:

“It is important to recognise that having a broad range of bars and restaurants is only one part of encouraging visitors to come and invest in our night-time economy.”

Councillor Damian White has given his approval to the project. He pointed out that Romford is home to a wide range of restaurants and pubs. He hopes that the safety team will reduce demand for the police while taking some of the pressure off ambulance crews.

When it comes to the composition of the safety team, two medics shall be joined by a security officer. The idea is that the unit will deliver a first response service when the town centre is on the busy side.
