World Gin Day celebrations return to Manchester

The Gin Society Festival is set to return to Manchester to celebrate World Gin Day next month.

The festival for gin lovers will once again be held at the Manchester Cathedral on Victoria Street. Local and new gins will be on offer as part of a list that includes 120 varieties for attendees to sample.

Those celebrating with the Gin Society will be able to enjoy exclusive access to three separate gin bars and read up on the listed libations in the Gin Society booklet. Festival organisers can look to local print shops to create literature to inform those attending such events.

Live entertainment will be present along with the opportunity to learn from industry experts and distillers at tasting masterclasses. A selection of street food will be available to purchase if desired.

The Society places importance on the event being environmentally conscious and will feature cardboard and glass recycling and make use of drinking straws manufactured from bio-degradable materials.

World Gin Day was founded in 2009 by Neil Houston enjoying drinks with his friends in Birmingham. Gaining considerable momentum, the occasion is now celebrated by millions across 30 countries around the world.

The Gin Society Festival will take place on June 8 from 12pm to 11pm. Included in the £12.50 ticket fee is a free gin and tonic.
