What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Manchester screen printing exhibition is a success

A screen printing exhibition recently showcased the work created by students at a screen printing workshop at the University of Salford.

DR ME, a creative art studio in Manchester, joined forces with local illustrator and screen print aficionado John Powell-Jones, who runs SAVWO Print and Design, a screen printing studio, to host a series of creative workshops called Edition. The two-week creative course saw students take part in life drawing, painting and screen printing activities.

The work produced by the students as part of the workshop was then showcased in an exhibition held at a pop-up gallery in Piccadilly Place in Manchester.

Screen printing may be at the more artistic range of the printing scale but many individuals, businesses and organisations still rely on traditional and digital printing in Manchester to create brochures, posters and flyers. Art exhibitions, like the one that was held at the end of the Edition workshops, are often promoted using posters and flyers and there continues to be an appetite for reliable commercial printing companies in Manchester.

Kit Turner, the University Events Officer at the University of Salford, commented on the workshops and the exhibition, saying:

“It’s great that Edition brings a new perspective on the collection of screen prints held at the University, and the collaboration between young Manchester designers and students has produced some amazing work.”

More information on the works produced can be obtained by contacting the university directly and updates can be found on DR ME’s twitter page.
