What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Manchester Day celebrates first decade in June

Manchester Day will once more return to the city this summer and this year it is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

All matters Mancunian will be celebrated at this all-day event taking place in the city centre. The theme of the parade this year will be ‘10 out of 10’ and has been developed especially to mark Manchester Day’s tenth birthday.

Creative Producer for the event, Liz Pugh commented:

"We've now reached 10 incredible years with Manchester Day which is why our '10 out of 10' theme is designed to give our community groups the chance to celebrate who or what they want to give top marks to in this great city through their creative entries to this year's parade.”

Promoters of days marking important anniversaries can create promotional products to commemorate the occasion and offer those attending a keepsake to take away with them.

What started as a simple parade organised by Manchester Council has evolved into a major event on the northern city’s summer calendar. With an estimated annual turn out of over 90,000, Manchester Day will see artists, performers and musicians out in force to entertain.

A programme dubbed the “WOW crowd” will also allow the creatively minded to get involved in group workshops to create collaborative set-pieces for the parade.

Manchester Day will take place on Sunday, June 23rd.
