What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Innovative indie rock musician destined for Manchester

Eclectic American singer and songwriter, Julia Holter, is about to embark on a tour, and is due to appear in Manchester at the beginning of December.

This multi-instrumentalist was born in Milwaukee, but grew up in Los Angeles in a musical family. She learned to play the piano and began writing her own songs at 10 years old. Tori Amos, Billy Holiday, and Radiohead were all claimed to be early influences.

Classically trained, Holter studied composing at the University of Michigan as well as electronic music at CalArts. She produced a couple of self-recorded pieces, 'Phaedra Runs to Russia' and 'Eating the Stars' in 2007.

Her six albums include the debut 'Tragedy' (2011), and 'Loud City Song' (2018), which rose to number 19 on US Billboard's Heatseekers Chart.

'Have You in My Wilderness' reached 29 on the UK Official Albums Chart in 2015. 'Something in the Room She Moves' came out this year, making it the artist’s most recent release.

Holter has worked with the likes of Jean Michel Jarre and on the Ducktails project, and has written scores for the film and TV industries, such as for the movie 'Never Rarely, Sometimes, Always’, which came out in 2020.

Tickets range in price from £20.40 to £25.20 inclusive of a transaction fee. Stationery printers can be a useful resource when it comes to making preparations for a concert or musical event.

Julia Holter's show has a starting time of 7.00 pm on Saturday, 7 December at Band on the Wall, Manchester.
