Industry magazine established by tech entrepreneur
Lawrence Jones, chief executive of UKFast, has set up industry magazine BusinessCloud from Greater Manchester.
The BusinessCloud venture has
been worked on by tech expert Mr Jones and by Chris Maguire, a former editor. The publication is aimed at businesspeople and it is intended to make technology easier to understand. It will be 80 pages long. Full colour printing from Manchester may be needed for the production of the magazine.
The idea is that the magazine will come out six times per year. However, the plan is that it could come out more frequently if there were to be evidence of sufficient demand for the product. To begin with, almost 20,000 will be printed. Over 50 per cent of the print run is to be distributed in the Manchester city region. The remainder of the magazines will be given to firms around the country. Mr Maguire described the contents of the first issue in the Manchester Evening News:
The team behind BusinessCloud got together about two and a half months ago. The hope is that the magazine will both entertain and inform. The use of appropriate language has been identified as being of importance to the project.

“The cover story is our Top 100 Tech Rich List and the research has been compiled by Philip Beresford, who also produces the annual Sunday Times Rich List. However, we’ve also profiled five young tech tycoons who are aspiring to be the next Mark Zuckerberg.”
