What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Annual Food and Drink Festival coming to Manchester

The acclaimed Manchester Food and Drink Festival is set to return to the city later this month.

Conceived by Phil Jones in 1998, the local event began as a means to showcase Manchester’s culinary skills, now 21 festivals later it’s regarded as an influential occasion on a national scale.

The 12-day festival will be held in various venues around Manchester and within the Festival Hub at Cathedral Gardens. The Dining Dome will return to the Festival Hub to entertain delegates with banquets and supper clubs along with a diverse selection of street food to sample.

Live Cookery Theatre will give visitors the opportunity to watch and learn from gastronomic experts like Executive Chef Andrew Green and Head Chef Rachel Stockley.

Other events include learning how to mix the perfect punch bowl, masterclasses in pasta and pastry and the chance to taste vegan cuisine. Festival goers can enjoy a food tour of Manchester, get restaurant start-up advice and take part in tastings from cheese and chocolate to gin and rum. Promoters of major city events can take advantage of flyer printing services, creating colourful leaflets to spread the word and pull in the crowds.

Gorton Monastery will host the festival’s finish with the celebrated Gala Dinner complete with the prestigious MFDF Award Ceremony.

The Manchester Food and Drink Festival will take place from September 26 to October 7.
