New shops and homes could be set to be built at a site in the centre of Macclesfield currently occupied by two derelict pubs, after a planning application was submitted to the local council.
IDCB Properties is hoping to build this new development at the spot in the Chestergate area of Macclesfield where The Three Pigeons and The Old King’s Head pubs stand at the moment. These are historic venues that have been in the area since the start of the 1800s, but they have lain empty for some years.
The Plans submitted would see the pubs demolished and replaced by a building that features flats with a mix of three, two and one bedrooms, and a number of units for retail use that would be located within the structure’s ground floor.
When new shopping outlets move into an area, they often look to offer free Promotional Products as they try to entice customers to come inside.
According to the IDCB Properties application, all of the flats would have individual balconies, as well as a shared terrace area on the roof of the building. The application states that this could also be used to host night-time events.
The council is expected to announce its decision about the Plans at some point during September, and is welcoming comments from the public as part of a consultation running until July 28.
