The progressive rock band Twisted Illusion is on tour and is due to play a gig in Macclesfield at the beginning of December.
Matt Jones founded this Manchester outfit in 2013 and since then they have adopted numerous guises, going through a host of different line-ups. However, he still remains an important force behind their musical development.
From 2018 onwards, a songwriting partnership evolved between Matt and guitarist Saxon Davids, with both contributing considerable material to the band's output. They successfully adapted to this new situation. Another guitarist Zak Robinson has joined lately, bringing the distinctive multilayered sound alive on stage.
2023 witnessed the emergence of a fifth studio album 'Upstairs to Optimism' whilst the band took some time to publicly acknowledge their 10th anniversary. They have in the intervening period successfully sold 5000 LPs in more than 20 countries, independently and without the backing of record labels.
Combine Queen, Dio, and Rush and add a certain absence of restraint, and the end result is the prog rock of Twisted Illusion.
