Parade scheduled for Macclesfield

The 1261 Festival and Parade, organised by the council authorities, is due to be held in Macclesfield towards the end of August.

This is named after the town's charter year and is important in that it seeks to celebrate both culture and community. There is quite a complete list of events scheduled. These include live music, talks, exhibitions, art installations, workshops, different types of theatre, street food and of course the parade itself.

There will be an aerial circus performed by Let’s Circus, face painting, Joy Division tours organised by Trevor Stokes, and more. Those attending can also participate in more niche activities such as making floral buttonholes with Homestead Grown.

These events are set to be hosted in both the town centre and right across the borough, with the inclusion of community projects funded by the council. This is all facilitated by the provision of free-to-ride buses in and around Macclesfield, which those attending can avail of.

The festival is family orientated and there should be something of interest for everyone, no matter their age.

All activities are free to access, and interested parties will not need tickets. Flyer printing can prove useful when it comes to the promotion of a social or community event.

The 1261 Festival and Parade will take place on Saturday, 23 August in and around Macclesfield.
