Cheshire East Council has recently approved a masterplan for the core of Macclesfield. This will enable the authority to seek more investment. The council is clear about the importance of working in partnership and is pleased about the shape of the future strategy.
Councillor Nick Mannion, who has responsibility for the regeneration and environment portfolio, told Place North West:
“Agreeing this strategic regeneration framework is a crucial step towards unlocking the fantastic potential of the town and delivering a town centre that the people of Macclesfield deserve and can really take real pride in.”
A public consultation was at the heart of the masterplan. Residents contributed their ideas and a consensus emerged around two themes. There was broad support for the improvement of green space, while most people backed the development of the public realm.
Developers that have achieved things locally are set to get involved. It seems that Huntsmere Construction, Peaks & Plains and Hillcrest will play their part in the future. Graphic design is often used when creating Plans for development projects.
Progress on specific Plans has already been made. A market similar to that in Altrincham should evolve. Nonetheless, one scheme has fallen through. It was envisaged that Churchill Way would be the site for a cinema.Get a Free Quote for Plans
