The survey Forms part of the council’s ongoing Macclesfield Town Centre Strategic Regeneration Framework that outlines the vision for a town centre that creates jobs and growth while retaining its unique character. This document suggests that revitalising the indoor and outdoor markets in Macclesfield would help to bring more people into the town centre and support its regeneration.
People with market stalls often use flyer printing to help them publicise their goods in the area.
The council has brought in Workman LLP to produce ideas for this and has launched a survey online to get the thoughts of those living there about how the markets can be made better.
On the Cheshire East Council website, Nick Mannion from the authority says that these markets already play a key role, but that the council believes they can become even more central.
He then adds:
“We are of course engaging with current market traders and other stakeholders to hear what they have to say, but we are also very interested to hear how residents and visitors to the town see the markets developing.”
The closing date for taking part in the survey is 4th January.
