Macclesfield in talks for new bar

A brand-new bar may be set to open at a vacant unit in Macclesfield later this year, with an application for it having been submitted to the local council for approval.

The people behind this bar, which would be called the Urban Fox, are hoping to open it in an empty unit on Mill Street. The site in question was, at one time, home to the popular Revolution bar, but has been sitting vacant since that venue closed its doors for the last time three years ago. It has also previously housed other nightlife attractions like the Barracuda Bar and the Silkworm.

Plans for the Urban Fox sound more ambitious than a typical bar, as the application is also seeking licensing for other Forms of entertainment, such as dance performances, recorded and live music and movie screenings.

Should movies be part of the Plans for the venue, this would not represent a complete break from its past, as the chosen site was a cinema at one time in its earlier years.

No word on when a decision on the application will be announced has been revealed yet.
