Macclesfield Civic Awards nominations launched

People living in Macclesfield will have the chance to ring in the New Year by honouring fellow residents who have improved life for the community, as nominations for the Civic Awards are launched.

These have now been officially opened by David Edwardes, the Mayor of Macclesfield, and people are being encouraged to put forward nominees for prizes. There are a total of nine different categories that individuals can be nominated in: ‘Lifetime Achievement’, ‘Pride of Macclesfield’, ‘Ambassador of Macclesfield’, ‘Independent Business’, ‘Environment’, ‘Art and Culture’, ‘Sporting and Leisure’, ‘Youth’ and ‘Community Involvement’.

Flyer printing placed in shops in the town can help to promote upcoming local awards events of this sort among people living in the region.

Speaking to In Your Area, Edwardes stated that the Town Council and mayor sought to honour people who live in the town in this way each year.

He then went on to add:

“If you feel you know a person or a group that have gone beyond the call of duty to help us in some way please nominate them. The awards recognise people who have given their time to make a difference to a community group or the town.”

Nominations for the 2022 Macclesfield Civic Awards must be submitted by Friday 11th February. The awards night date is still to be decided.
