The Christie at Macclesfield cancer centre will provide treatment for people throughout the wider High Peak area and much of the work on the outside of it is already finished. The roof, cladding, doors and windows are all now in place and some of the equipment that will be used in treating patients is expected to be delivered soon for installation.
Work has now moved on to fitting out the interior of the building, including installing its decorations, plasterwork, IT cables, lights and other electrics, and plumbing.
Stationery printers in the same area often provide health centres such as this with the everyday administrative Forms that they need to function effectively.
This Macclesfield centre is costing £26m to build and the outside has been given brass cladding so that it will match the other Christie’s centre in Withington.
Speaking to the Buxton Advertiser, Stuart Keen, who is The Christie capital and estates director, said:
“We are very pleased with the progress that has been made on the building of The Christie at Macclesfield.”
He went on to add that the centre was on course to open for use by December 2021.
