Macclesfield’s Sylk Dance Academy was established on an informal basis in 2009 and now instructs about 250 dancers. Amy Mayers created the academy with Becky Anderson and she persevered with the project when her friend decided to do other things. Mayers told Cheshire Live:
“It is something I had always wanted to do. Even in the year book at Fallibroome Academy I wrote that this was what I was going to do.”
Mayers is 32 and is a resident of Mill Street. She admitted that there is more to running Sylk than she envisaged. In particular, she stressed that administration and getting on with people have been important ingredients in her success. Local Print shops can assist businesses with their administration, whether than is providing Letterheads or through graphic design.
According to Mayers, the academy has developed into something like a family. She has not got any Plans for starting anything else. Her studies have served her well and she was astute enough to learn marketing as well as dance.
Sylk was born in Broken Cross Social Club and there were only four classes. Since then, the organisation has secured a base at Union Road. It has obtained the right to use several Macclesfield venues and it even has a presence within Congleton.Get a Free Quote for Plans Get a Free Quote for Letterheads Get a Free Quote for Print
