Highcross Shopping Centre in Leicester opened its doors to the students on Tuesday 5th March from 7pm – 10pm. The shopping event has been organised a number of times over recent years and always draws in a number of young shoppers.
The Marketing and Events Co-ordinator at Highcross Shopping Centre, Abigail Cross, spoke about the event, saying that the shopping centre wanted to offer the area’s students a fun-filled evening of exclusive discounts, offers and live entertainment. Talking about last year’s event, she said:
“Our last Student Takeover during Fresher’s Week in 2012 was hugely successful, so now that the autumn/winter season has passed, we’re giving students the chance to grab a bargain from the spring/summer collections, with many more great deals on offer.”
The shoppers were asked to show student identification to gain entry to the event, which featured special discounts from popular high street chain stores such as Levi's, Topman and River Island. Each of the shops promoted their own bespoke discounts and offers in store, often using Flyers and banner printing.
Lutterworth and Leicester-based students were also treated to a live DJ set on the evening, as well as a number of chances to win prizes, including shopping vouchers and free meals at eateries such as Nando's.
