The Lutterworth Santa Run attracted an impressive turnout of locals who were not about to let a spot of inclement weather prevent them getting into the spirit of the festive season. Those responsible for organising this year’s event stated that there were a total of 775 people taking part in the run.
In addition to launching the Christmas celebrations, the run is also designed as a fundraiser for several Rotary Charities, the Lutterworth Mayor’s Appeal, the Air Ambulance, Share and Care Group, Canine Partnership and Barnardo’s Young Carers.
The Rotary Club of Lutterworth Wycliffe and Lutterworth Rotary Club organised the Santa Fun Run, with entrants given a choice of a four kilometre or 5.7 kilometre course – both of which began and ended at Lutterworth College.
In the six years that this run has been taking place, local and global charities have benefited to the tune of £79,000, and Peter Osborn told the Harborough Mail after this year’s event:
“We were lucky with the weather – it was at least dry for ‘the run’ even if the wind was higher than we would have liked.”
