Mayor Tony Hirons revealed the winners of Lutterworth’s treasure hunt long after the August event had come to an end. The hunt contributed funds to the Charity Appeal of the Mayor. A promotional role was performed by Lutterworth’s Retail Forum. Mayor Hirons told the Harborough Mail:
“I'm delighted that so many people took part. Over 100 question sheets were bought, raising well over £300 for my Appeal, and more importantly, from postings I have seen on social media, people really seemed to enjoy doing it.”
During the competition, participating families explored the centre of Lutterworth, which may have given them an appreciation of the retail offer of the town. Brochure printing can often be used when promoting the town, its events and businesses.
John Woodford played a significant role in devising the hunt. Mayor Hirons thanked him for composing the questions. The mayor also declared that two of the entries secured maximum points in the quiz.
All the competition winners obtained vouchers for their efforts, which can be used to purchase goods within retail outlets in Lutterworth.
The Wasiks were given a voucher worth £50, while Rhona Milner and Sue Spirett received a voucher for £30. Meanwhile, Celia Walsh was given a £20 voucher for her efforts in the event.
