Lutterworth Town Council base could be upgraded

The building that serves as the main headquarters for Lutterworth Town Council could undergo refurbishment and extension work, if planning permission is granted for the project.

Town Council chiefs have submitted the proposals to the planning officers at Harborough District Council, and are now awaiting a decision. They would see a one storey extension added to the existing structure to provide room for facilities such as a private meeting area. There will be room for other upgrades in the building, which is situated on Coventry Road, Lutterworth.

As it stands currently, there are major flaws in the building, including the lack of a properly functioning heating system. It is hoped that these can be rectified through the changes. The last time work was carried out in the building was during the 1970s, with much of it said to now be in a bad condition.

Organisations like Lutterworth Town Council can go to local shops for Letterheads with their name and logo on them. These can then be printed on official correspondence, such as letters about proposed renovation works.

The additional storey would be built at one end of the building, while offices and a new council chamber would be added to the ground floor.

Harborough District Council is expected to announce its decision by the middle of October.
