Plans for a major refurbishment of the town centre in Lutterworth are set to go ahead, with the confirmation that funding has been secured for the project.
The majority of the money for it will be provided by Harborough District Council, with the expected cost having been estimated at £1 million. The focal point of the revamp will be the market area of the town centre and a number of changes are planned for it. These will enhance the amenities on offer for those who trade within the market, but will also improve it for the general public.
Additional benches for people to sit on are among the proposed changes that are intended to make the market area more user-friendly for residents. Work is still being carried out on designs for the revamp and feedback is being sought from those who have stalls in the market.
One of the options that market traders in the town have when it comes to advertising is to get promotional flyer printing produced by Lutterworth shops.
Some of the other funding partners for this refurbishment project include the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
A Harborough District Council spokesperson said that parking within the area should remain the same after the work has been completed. The hope is that it can be done by next autumn.
