Lutterworth Sports Centre to be upgraded

A number of upgrades are set to be made to Lutterworth Sports Centre; following the news that grant funding has been secured to enable this work to be carried out.

The project is able to go ahead because of the decision to reallocate some of the grant money originally provided for adding solar panels to Harborough Leisure Centre. The sports centre in Lutterworth has been given £250,000 of it through the Swimming Pool Support Fund set up by Sport England, because the main work needed is to the pools at the centre.

They are to be given new cubicles for changing, toilets and showers using the money. Changes will also be carried out in the reception room and the sports hall. The first part of the work is already underway. Brand new machines for exercising are being installed as part of equipment upgrades.

Local facilities like sports centres often need to promote the various amenities that they offer. Brochure printing with full colour pictures from shops in Lutterworth is one of the ways in which they can do that.

Harborough District Council Leader Phil Knowles told the Rugby Observer that:

“I am thrilled that further funding has been identified to provide additional enhancements. The project is progressing well and the feedback so far has been excellent.”

A completion date for the work is still to be confirmed.
